  1. What attracted you to Xero and this role?
    I have always been interested in the accounting industry and have heard great things about Xero's products and culture. This role specifically caught my attention because it involves working with customers to troubleshoot technical issues, which is a skill that I have developed through my previous customer service experience. I am excited about the opportunity to apply my skills in a new context and to be a part of a company that is making a positive impact in the industry.

     

  2. Tell me about your experience with accounting software.
    I have been using accounting software for the past 5 years in my previous role as a bookkeeper. I am proficient in several software programs, including Xero, QuickBooks, and MYOB. I have also completed a course on advanced accounting principles, which has given me a strong foundation in accounting concepts and practices. I am confident in my ability to quickly learn new software and adapt to different work environments.

     

  3. What do you know about Xero and its products?
    Xero is a cloud-based accounting software company that offers a range of products for small and medium-sized businesses. The company's mission is to make life easier for small business owners by providing them with the tools they need to manage their finances and grow their businesses. Some of Xero's key products include its accounting software, payroll, and invoicing tools. I am familiar with these products and have seen first hand how they can streamline business operations and improve efficiency.

     

  4. How do you stay up to date with developments in the accounting industry?
    I regularly read industry blogs and publications, participating in online courses and webinars, and attending conferences and events. I also make a point to continuously learn from my colleagues and mentors, as I believe that there is always more to learn in any field. By staying informed, I am able to provide the best possible service to my clients and stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies.

     

  5. Can you give an example of a time when you had to troubleshoot a technical problem for a
    customer or colleague?

    Yes, I have had to troubleshoot technical problems for customers and colleagues in the past. One specific example that comes to mind is when a colleague was having difficulty with a report in our accounting software. I was able to identify the issue as a problem with the data input, and worked with the colleague to correct the data and re-run the report. The colleague was grateful for my help and was able to complete the task on time thanks to my assistance.

     

  6. How do you handle difficult client or customer situations?
    I approach difficult client situations with empathy and professionalism. I try to understand their perspective and see things from their point of view. I also make sure to listen actively and clarify any misunderstandings to ensure that the customer feels heard and understood. If a resolution cannot be immediately reached, I offer to escalate the issue to a supervisor or manager and follow up to ensure that the issue is resolved to the client's satisfaction.

     

  7. How do you approach problem-solving in the workplace?
    I first identify the problem and then gathering as much information as possible about it. I then consider different potential solutions and weigh their pros and cons before deciding on the best course of action. I also make sure to involve relevant stakeholders in the decision-making process and to keep an open mind to new ideas and perspectives. I believe that effective problem-solving requires collaboration and a willingness to think creatively.

     

  8. What do you hope to achieve in your career over the next 5 years?
    I hope to continue building my skills and expertise in the accounting industry. I am particularly interested in expanding my knowledge of new technologies and trends that are shaping the future of accounting. I also hope to take on more leadership responsibilities and help mentor and guide other team members in their careers.

      - Could you tell me more about the team I will be working with and what is their Xero skill level?
      - Which components of Xero are you using? For example, Payroll, Document Management etc?
      - How involved are your external accountants in overseeing your Xero setup and reporting?
      - Are there any shortcomings in Xero you would like to see addressed?
      - Is your Xero setup interfaced with other software products such as SalesForce, Zapier, Deputy, Calxa?
      - Are you using Xero's bank and credit card feeds?
